Although this Duffy 38 is a very well cared for yacht she was brought into the shop to address some core damage. Upon further investigation and a thermal imaging survey it was concluded that the extent of the damage was much more extensive than was expected. The damaged areas included the anchor platform and fore deck, the windshield frames, both sides of the cabin house, and the top of the wheel house. After the outer skin was removed it was determined that most of the water damage was from improperly bedded hardware, to mitigate the chances of this happening again, fiberglass plate was placed where the hardware is mounted. Before painting each area was fiberglassed, faired, and primed. The black moldings that were made out of plastic, and had cracked do to sun exposure, are now fiberglass plate. These were installed and painted with AwlGrip before any other painting was completed. The boat looks great and is as structurally sound as when she was new!
